The first work in a seven-part cycle drawn from the chakra system, the Sanskrit चक्र (cakra) "wheel" denoting the body's revolving centers of subtle energy. Where later panels in the series ascend toward abstraction, ROOT stays deliberately low to the ground: the foundation stone on which the remaining six depend.
